I made this painting for a blog (Inspiration All Around Us).....It was a very old challenge (Dec 2009), but I liked the photograph a lot so decided to paint it.  Loved painting this morning glory.  Painting the background was real fun.  Its fun to watch how watercolors mingle and blend  on paper to form a thin homogeneous layer with bare minimum usage of the brush.  In fact using the brush tends to damage the paper.  All in all I thoroughly enjoyed doing this miniature painting.

Tradional Indian Lantern

11.5" x 5.5"
watercolor on 140 lb coldpress watercolor paper

This is a traditional Indian Lantern (diya) that is lit before God everyday while offering prayers.   Its generally made out of bronze.  Thought of painting it today.  Was a real struggle to introduce the glow as well as the color of the bronze.  Nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed painting it.

This painting was done for a blog (Studio Atelier) challenge for the month of September 2010.  Thanks Barb Benik for proving us with this photograph.  Bringing out the rocky texture of the rocks was a real challenge and of course an enjoyable experience.
